Five Ways to Liven Up Your Toast Game

I love toast.


I swear it's the most versatile food staple there is, with so many different kinds of bread and toppings, I don't think I could ever get tired of the possibilities. So often though, we get stuck in food ruts. Always eating the same meals over and over because we're running on auto-pilot and want our quick and convenient foods to be.. well, quick and convenient! That's why I've put together this list of easy recipes that will be liven up your toast game. Whether you have it for breakfast, lunch or dinner, these recipes are packed with flavour and nutrients that will make you fall back in love with toast.



Egg & Avocado Toast

  • Toast your toast

  • Cook your egg in your favourite way, whether fried, hard boiled, or poached

  • Top your toast with mayo, avocado, egg and voila!

  • Extras: add in some fresh spinach before the avocado and top with nutritional yeast flakes for extra goodness

  • Feeling fancy? Cut up some cherry tomatoes and fry separately with salt and pepper to add as a sauce on top of your egg


Fried Mushrooms & Egg on Toast

  • Slice mushrooms and fry in pan with oil, season with Italian seasoning

  • Once mushrooms are almost done fry egg separately

  • Toast your toast and top it with cream cheese

  • Add mushrooms and fried egg

  • Extras: add in some dark leafy greens like spinach or baby kale before the mushrooms and top with nutritional yeast flakes for extra goodness


Toasted Tomato Open Face Sandwich

  • Toast your toast

  • Top with mayo, cheddar cheese and slides tomato

  • Season with salt and pepper

  • Feeling fancy? Top with fresh basil


Classic Nut Butter and Banana

  • Toast your toast

  • Top with your nut butter of choice and sliced banana, season with cinnamon for some anti-inflammatory goodness

  • Extras: Sprinkle with help hearts, chia seeds, or flax seeds for added nutrients and protein


French Toast

  • Whisk together an egg, with a splash of milk, vanilla extract and cinnamon

  • Heat butter in a large pan

  • Briefly soak bread slice in egg mixture and add to pan

  • Fry until golden brown on both sides

  • Top with fresh berries (frozen berries work great too! simply heat in a small pot to make a yummy berry sauce)

  • Extras: Sprinkle with help hearts, chia seeds, or flax seeds for added nutrients and protein
